Jeri Mills, M.D:. In her article in the Summer 2003 issue, Reiki in Hospitals, How I introduced Reiki Treatments into my Obstetrics and Gynecology Practice, Dr. Mills says: "My C-section rate declined from five or six per month to no more than one per month. My surgery patients were going home one or two days after major operations, their hospital stays a day or two shorter than expected, and they were requiring much less pain medication than other patients." This is the first article of a regular column in which I will describe the experiences of people who have made Reiki treatments available in hospitals and other clinical settings. Many hospitals and clinics now offer Reiki as a regular part of their services. Reiki has proven to be a useful adjunct to Western Medical therapy. It has decreased the side effects of medical treatments, helped to provide pain control, and hastened recovery times. It is my purpose to provide inspiration, ideas, and resources for those wanting to provide this service.
Dr. Mills is a physician, board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. She is also a veterinarian, a Certified Reiki Master Teacher and author of the book Tapestry of Healing: Where Reiki and Medicine Intertwine. She has lectured extensively about the integration of Western medicine and Energy medicine. At present, she is devoting her time to writing and teaching. Her goal is to serve as a bridge between Eastern and Western medicine.

James L. Oschman, Ph.D:. This article provides the most thorough and in-depth scientific explanation of Reiki that has yet been written! Doctor Oschman spent twenty years as a research biologist before becoming interested in the scientific study of holistic healing. He is one of the world's foremost authorities on the scientific understanding of holistic medicine and hands-on healing.
