Reiki Class on Kurama Yama, Japan
Usui/Holy Fire II ART/Master Training

September 15-21, 2017
Kurama, Japan

Instructors: William Lee Rand and Colleen Benelli

Kurama Yama is the mountain where Usui Sensei had
his meditative experience and was given the gift of Reiki.

Main Temple

The class will be the Holy Fire II ART/Master training and will include 4 class days. We require students to arrive 3 days before class instruction begins so as to adjust to the time zone and have 2 full days to explore Kurama Yama on your own. We'll be teaching on the mountain 2 days and there will be 2 classroom days. The mountain class time will be located near the top of the mountain at the place called Õsugi Gongen which is thought to be where Usui sensei had his meditative experience and received the gift of Reiki. We will be doing Ignitions there and also a few of the class lessons as well as sharing Reiki with each other there. This is a wonderful location in a cedar forest that also feels very peaceful.

Kurama Shrine

The actual class instruction dates are Sept. 18-21, 2017, but you must arrive at Kurama village Sept. 15 to give you 2 full days to adjust to the time zone and have time to explore the mountain on your own.

Class fee $3800.00
The fee includes lodging and food for 7 nights. You will also need to include your round trip airline ticket fee to Osaka Kansai International airport and all other travel fees such as taxi and train fares to Kyoto and from Kyoto to Kurama. You must also have a valid passport and any other required travel documents. We will be supplying detailed travel instructions.

In order to hold the class on Kurama Yama, Jesus has worked with the spirit of the mountain to gain permission. This took some time, but now that an understanding of the spiritual nature of our purpose has taken place, and the fact that we agree to respect the sacred energies that are there and not interfere with them, the spirit of the mountain has blessed our class and welcomes our presence.

This area is thought to be close to where Usui Sensei had his meditative experience and was given the gift of Reiki.
Stone Workshop

The lodge, which is close to the train station, has room for most of the students but some will be staying at another inn which is about a 10 min walk away. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be server to all students. However, lunch and dinner will be at the lodge for all students. You will not need a car or transportation as the entrance to Kurama Yama is only a block away from the lodge which is less than a block from the train terminal.

Sugako, the proprietor of the lodge says, “This is a Ryokan Inn, which is slightly different than a hotel and is unique to Japan. Dinner is a showcase of Japan Ryokan. The lodge dinner cuisine is called Kyo-kai-seki and is highly valued in Japan. The chef examines all seasonal ingredients to deliver the gems of flavor and fragrance within.” William says, “I have to tell you it is by far the best food I have every eaten” Dinner is a multi-course meal with each course served one at a time. Each course is prepared with great care; attention is given to the mixture of flavors and textures of the food, the nutritional value and the artistic appearance. Also, the chef is willing to accommodate the dietary needs of each student if possible, but of course we will need to know in advance what your needs are. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaiseki

Temple Bell

Kurama Village is a small traditional Japanese community. Both lodge and Inn are the only accommodations in the village itself. They both have traditional Japanese rooms with the traditional tatami mats on the floor to sleep on. The rooms are all shared rooms; there are no single or private rooms available for this trip. We found the rooms and the mats (which are like futons) to be very comfortable. In fact, more comfortable than hotels we stayed in.

Reiki Requirements
You must have taken Reiki II 6 months or more prior to the date of the class. In addition, during this time you need to have practiced and developed a functional level of skill with each of the exercises. Skill with Byosen scanning, Reiji ho, use of the Reiki symbols and experience giving full Reiki sessions is necessary.

Physical Requirements
One requirement is that you must be in good physical condition. There is a 1200-foot elevation gain between the lodge and the top of the mountain. While there is an optional cable car that will take you up part way, there will still be a climb of about 800 feet elevation to get from the end of the cable car ride to the top of the mountain. Most of this is via stairs and there are places to stop to rest. If you are to get to the top in a reasonable time and feel good when you get there, you need to be involved in an aerobic exercise program that includes stairs to make sure your legs are in good shape. The hike from the end of the cable car ride to the top of the mountain is similar to climbing up the stairs of an 80-story building. Just so you understand, this is a very tall building. (As an example, the Empire State Building in NYC is 102 flights of stairs.) And this is done in about an hour. Do not fill out the application for the class unless you are able to do this or will definitely be starting an exercise program right away to get in shape to be able to do it. It would be unfortunate for you to travel all that way and then not be able to get to the mountain top location in time to take part in the Ignitions, class time and Reiki sharing activity, all of which are required for you to complete the class and receive a certificate.

This is the Reiki class of a lifetime

If you meet the requirements and are interested, download the application and return to colleen@reikilifestyle.com when complete.
